Damn-it; another week past the original day! This VW buyback situation better be the best thing I’ve ever seen on June 28.

Maybe they are going to factor in depreciation into the final buyback price, and in 10 years when they are finally out of extensions and start issuing checks, the vehicles will be near worthless.
Either way we’re waiting for ours as well.

Man i just don't get it though. There's been no noticeable reduction in price for the TDI cars (if anything they've gone up in value) and you're still driving the best diesel that you're gonna get for half a decade

I had a customer tell me yesterday they’ve been promised the car’s value plus 10k for a 2009ish TDI Jetta. I find that hard to believe, but that would be something.

What Volvo are you looking at? I’ve driven the new XC90 T8 and it was the nicest SUV I’ve been in. Plus, the nav is one of the most responsive screens/Os’s that I’ve used

That is hard to believe. Was the car’s value based on pre-scandal? or was it MSRP new price?

Probably current value with a number like that, which would put it in the range of sticker price, probably a bit more. I don’t believe it, but he’s a TDI nut and I don’t know what his source was.

And so they continue to string us along. The worst part about this is that they treat us like shit, string us along, and I still can’t think of a car I want to replace ours with (without taking out more money to upgrade) so we’ll probably end up keeping it.

Wow, complaining about not getting the compensation on time. Meanwhile everyone outside the US gets NOTHING except a small upgrade that fixes emissions and get treated like it’s their fault by VW. /endrant, sorry.

Most likely he will get the pre scandal value from September 2015 plus roughly $5k. The “additional compensation" number has not been confirmed but the number I've seen is $5k. I have a 2010 Golf TDI so I've kept a close watch on this as I'm planning on selling the car back.

It’s frustrating for owners especially for me, living in CA, where the air quality sucks. I don’t want to contribute further to the problems and want the car I drive to not emit tons of NOx. Also, Euro emissions standards are less stringent than the ones of the US, so they get a fix that’s easy. Also, false advertising is.. false advertising, so compensation and a timely resolution are something I care about.

That’s what I’ve heard from several clients as well.

Resale value is probably also a big factor. You make the right choice. One thing people like to seem to forget is that gasoline powered cars with direct injection also emit a lot of nox and that electric cars are only as clean as the source which their electricity is from.

Yeah, batteries aren’t the cleanest things to make unfortunately. Didn’t know about the nox issues in petrol cars.

I also didn’t know about di engines having high nox emissions. Urea injection like with some diesels might be a solution to this.

I like how no one actually read the article and saw that it wasn’t VW who asked for the extension, but one of the government agencies.
